Highway to get power supply by the end of September

Jonuz Mujević

Works on power supply of Bar-Boljare highway are going according to plan and are expected to be completed by 30 September 2020, said CEO of Monteput, Mr Jonuz Mujević.

Preparation of the embankment for Mateševo substation is underway. Access roads projects for the transmission line have been carried out.

“Power supply project of the fist highway section is underway. Works on Mrke substation have started”, said Mr Mujević.

Monteput, in charge of power supply project , signed in May last year agreement with the Investment and Development Fund on getting €38,23 million of loan for the construction of power supply system.

As announced earlier, Bar-Boljare highway will receive power from 24 substations with capacity of 2/250 KV amperes to up to 2/1250 kv amperes. The project envisages construction of five one-system transmission lines and a 20 Kv, 50-km long cable in the highway corridor, as well as power supply. The electricity will also supply ski centers in Kolašin, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje and Rožaje.

Mr Mujević said that road toll would cost from 8 to 12 cents per kilometer.

“Monteput is not in charge of toll collection. We expect adoption of the new Law on Roads, which will precise the role of Monteput in the maintenance of the entire section. According to the European standard, the toll costs from 8 to 12 cents”, explained Mr Mujović.

In 2020, the company will be focused on maintaining and collection of toll through Sozina tunnel and overall monitoring of the implementation of Bar-Boljare highway.

“We’ll also focus on the project of fast lane along Montenegrin coastline, with special emphasis on the bypass around Budva”, concluded Mr Mujević.
