Montenegro Airlines: Plans afoot for the purchase of airplanes

U floti Monetnegro Airlinesa četiri aviona

Montenegro Airlines, national airline, plans to buy airplanes in phases, they said in a statement.

“The first potential provider will be GECAS company, which has rented us two airplanes. Given the fact that agreements are in force until 2023 and 2024, we will try to make a favorable arrangement with the company and purchase the crafts before the agreement expires. We will provide more details when the implementation of the law begins”, MA representatives said.

Detailed analysis has shown that the company should opt for buying its own airplanes, with the aim of securing safe business for an extended period of time.

“Due to increased seasonality, MA should have crafts for regional operations in its fleet. It should also leave possibility foe renting airplanes of greater capacities”, MA representatives said.

MA fleet encompasses four crafts, three of which are Embraer 195 and one Fokker 100.

“National airline company owns one Fokker 100. One Embraer 195 airliner was procured in 2010 through financial leasing from Brazilian BNDS bank. It will be repaid in 2022. The other two airliners, Embraer type, were rented from GECAS. Annual fixed costs amount to €3,7 million for both airliners”, they said.

Line for Lisbon cancelled

“Although plans were afoot for line for Lisbon, that project has been temporarily postponed”, MA representatives concluded.
