Food prices in the world have been falling for several consecutive months, and are currently at the level of three years ago. This is specified in the report of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture. In our country, the prices are growing and this is a consequence, according to analyst Oleg Filipovic, of import dependence and the size of the market. The solution, he says in a statement to Radio Montenegro, is to renew the “Stop Inflation” campaign, but with an expanded list of products, or establish administrative measures to control the market, i.e. limit prices. He advocates for the establishment of the Ministry of Trade. Former Minister of Economic Development Goran Djurovic commented for Radio Montenegro that stabilization of prices could only be achieved through dialogue with businessmen.

Global food prices have reached the lowest values in the last three years. More precisely, they are at the level before the start of the war in Ukraine, according to the UN analysis.

In our country, it is not nearly the same. Prices in stores change daily, and estimates are that they will be even higher due to the announced increase in the minimum pension to €450. For now, the message from the Government is that they will monitor the trends in shops and react in a timely manner.
