Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said that the first visit of the new government to Brussels was successful. As he stated, the closing of the chapter with Montenegro was mentioned for the first time after a long time, and he characterized it as the result of great progress in Chapters 23 and 24, that is, the rule of law. He pointed out that intensive work would be done on other chapters in the next few months, and that he expected the first results in the first quarter of next year.

“We see great optimism on both sides. After only six, seven, sessions in Montenegro, we see a new culture of dialogue and compromise that has not been seen before and which has already produced results. We also see how the census is done, as in every European country, it has become a technical matter. We can’t wait for the results of the census because they will give us some very important details for the development plan of Montenegro”, Spajic said.

He pointed out that the Government submitted 60 reforms to the Commission.

“I think the Commission is impressed with so many reforms and with what depth we approached it. We prepared all that in just two or three weeks”, he said.

When asked by journalists whether Montenegro would be able to deliver the results by April 2024, Spajic said that it was very possible.
