Continuous investment in infrastructure is needed, as well as in the promotion of the city as an attractive tourist destination. It is important to simplify administrative procedures for tourism employees and ensure favourable conditions for business, including tax breaks and subsidies for new projects, Luka Bulatovic, deputy president of the Tourism and Hospitality Association Board at the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, says in a statement for the Gradski portal.

Podgorica tourism officials expressed their satisfaction with the business environment and working conditions compared to the previous year. Various factors have contributed to this positive trend, including stabilizing economic conditions, increased number of tourists and improving infrastructure.

However, although they are generally satisfied, tourism employees have highlighted several challenges they face, and additional investments in training and education of the workforce would improve their skills and competencies, Bulatovic explains.

Also, there is a need for better coordination and cooperation between the private sector and local authorities to more effectively address traffic and parking issues in tourist areas, which would further improve the visitor experience, he notes.

Tourism revenues in the City of Podgorica have increased significantly; preliminary data show a growth of about 15% compared to the previous year, which is the result of an increased number of tourists and a larger number of accommodation capacities.

Currently, there is a certain shortage of workforce in the field of tourism in Podgorica, especially in segments that require specific skills and knowledge, such as tour guides, managers in agencies specialized in MICE tourism and active tourism, he points out.

Bulatovic emphasizes that the support of the local self-government and the state is crucial for the further development of tourism in Podgorica. Continuous investment in infrastructure is needed, as well as in the promotion of the city as an attractive tourist destination, he highlights.
